The Further Education and Training Certificate in Generic Management NQF Level 4 is an accredited full qualification quality assured by BANKSETA. It has been specifically developed to build a wide range of management competencies.

This qualification specifically develops management competencies required by learners in any occupation, particularly those who are currently operating as junior managers or team leaders. The qualification introduces key terms, rules, concepts, principles, and practices of management that will enable learners to be informed managers in any occupation. It has also been developed to enable managers or prospective managers to access higher education and provide flexible access to life-long learning.
The qualification is widely recognised as a starting point for managers who are climbing the corporate ladder and it provides successful learners with access to the National Certificate in Generic Management NQF Level 5.
Learners who have been working in a junior management role for over five years may apply to complete the qualification through Recognition of Prior Learning, which is simply the assessment without any training. With Recognition of Prior Learning there is no training and no training materials with the RPL option. You simply complete the assessment. Learners with less workplace experience should rather complete the qualification through the online learning delivery method.
Learners will complete their RPL assessment online, so you will need a PC or tablet with sufficient internet connectivity to download and upload the assessments.
Learners must have a PC or tablet (or smart phone, but this could be too small for effective learning) with sufficient internet connectivity to download the online learning materials and view videos. A good level of computer literacy is also an advantage.
Learners must have at least 3-5 years relevant experience either in a supervisory or management role and:
- Communication skills at NQF Level 3.
- Mathematical literacy at NQF Level 3
- Computer literacy at NQF Level 3.
The Further Education and Training Certificate in Generic Management qualification is accredited by the BANKSETA, and is registered with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) as a 150 credit qualification at level 4 (SAQA ID: 57712). Chartall Business College is accredited by BANKSETA to offer this qualification.
Learners are assessed using a Portfolio of Evidence (PoE). Chartall Business College has set questions and assignments that are completed over the duration of the qualification and submitted in skills programmes. You complete these assessments in your own time. This portfolio will be assessed by a registered assessor and feedback will be provided.
The advantage of the portfolio as a mode of assessment is that it can be used after the learning to support the learner’s CV as it showcases what they can do practically (you will need to keep a copy of it for this purpose).
Chartall recognises accredited training courses that learners may have completed with their employers or other skills development providers. If the courses you have completed are aligned to unit standards, Chartall will award unit standard exemptions for this training. You will be asked to submit your statement of results so that Chartall Business College can work out if you qualify for any exemptions.
