Chartall Business College represents South Africa at the 3rd VPL Biennale in Germany
Dr Karen Deller from Chartall Business College presented a paper at the third VPL Biennale in Berlin, Germany on the 7th May 2019. This is the third VPL conference to be held in Europe and its key objective was to draft and adopt a declaration on VPL (or RPL as we know it in South Africa) to pave the road for a stronger and more sustainable implementation of VPL throughout both Europe and the world.
The VPL Biennale was a great conference to share knowledge, ideas and visions on RPL and over 350 RPL practitioners from far and wide attended the two-day conference. Key themes of the conference presentations included exploring creative ways of funding, legitimising, conducting and following up on VPL.
Dr Deller showcased an example of best practice in RPL from South Africa. Her conference paper was titled “Putting the candidate at the centre with an online RPL portal” and she presented the benefits of the online RPL portal that Chartall Business College created for BANKSETA (www.rplbankseta.org.za) and its role in enabling both RPL, as well as progression post-RPL. Besides the actual presentation, the conference organisers ran a competition for the best international RPL practices. The Chartall Business College submission was placed third out of over 28 shortlisted entries. Quite an honour, and very humbling, to be selected for recognition by such an esteemed gathering.
On Wednesday 10th July 2019 Chartall Business College has scheduled a repeat of Dr Deller’s presentation online. If you are interested in attending, you can log in via our website here: Webinar series
